THE UNKNOWN VOLUNTEER
One early Saturday morning in September
At Our Lady of Grace parking lot
A stranger that he seemed to look
Approached Tom, and asked:
“Whether he could help us paint?”
Of course Tom kindly answered,
“Surely you can.”
The man took the gallon of paint and a brush
And started painting the parking block.
As I looked at the man
I could feel that -
There was an air of emptiness in him
That nobody really knows for sure
Only known to God and nothing more.
I took his picture without him knowing
Then sent the picture to Tom, Joe and Larry
For the possibility of having it featured in our newsletter
For us to understand what charity is all about.
Then came our council meeting last Monday
And Tom announced that this man
Who volunteered to help us
Was no other than
A HOMELESS MAN.
